Is silicone rubber sheet and silica gel plate the same thing?

Silicone rubber sheeting is one kind of synthetic rubber. It is tasteless and non-toxic, not afraid of heat and keeps out of cold. Silicone rubber sheet remains “poised”, “natural” at 300℃ and -90℃, which still does not lose its original strength and elasticity. Silicone rubber sheets also has good electrical insulation, resistance to oxygen aging resistance, light resistance, anti-aging, and mildew resistance, chemical stability, etc. Because of its excellent performance, the silicone rubber sheet has played an important role in modern medicine. In recent years, by the mutual cooperation from factories, hospitals, scientific research, a variety of silicone rubber medical supplies are successfully trial-produced.

Silica gel can be divided into two types according to its properties and components: organic silica gel and inorganic silica gel. Inorganic silica gel is a high active absorbent material, usually made by using sodium silicate and sulfuric acid to react, then through aging, acid foam and a series of post-processing process. Silica gel belongs to amorphous material; its chemical formula is mSiO2. NH2O. It is insoluble in water and any solvents, non-toxic and tasteless, stable chemical properties. It does not react with any material in addition to strong alkali, hydrofluoric acid. Chemical components and physical structure of the silica gel determines that it has many features which other similar materials are difficult to replace: high adsorption properties, thermal stability, chemical stability, a high mechanical strength, etc. Organic silica gel is a kind of organic silicone compounds, refers to compounds containing Si-C keys, and at least having one organic group directly linked to the silicone atoms.
